Dhow Wharfs has its quayside is stacked with piles goods: sacks of rice from Thailand, electrical goods from China and carpets from Iran. Tied up alongside the wharves are rows of wooden dhows their superstructures of carved wood work painted in blues and reds, their decks covered in a confused jumble of ropes, anchors, bicycles and cardboard boxes.

The dhow, in its intricate simplicity has its own sophisticated division of classes and does not merely fall into one type. Rather there are three various sizes, the small "family" boat with a length of 22 feet, the larger 43 feet dhow, and upwards of 60 to 85 feet cargo vessels.
